Electronic Yellow Fever Card now Required Upon Arrival

July 31, 2019 | Nigeria

Beginning July 1, 2019, foreign nationals coming to Nigeria for work or residence must obtain an electronic Yellow Fever Card or “e-Yellow Card” on entry. To obtain the card, foreign nationals must present the Yellow Fever vaccination certificate obtained in their country of origin and their passport, and must pay a fee. The vaccination certificate will be replaced by an e-Yellow Card. Foreign nationals that arrive without a vaccination certificate will need to be vaccinated, obtain a vaccination certificate, and then exchange it for an e-Yellow Card.

Background

Due to the active transmission of Yellow Fever in Nigeria, the World Health Organization requires international travelers aged nine months or older to present evidence of Yellow Fever vaccination upon arrival in Nigeria.
